Cafébond.com bringing Australian coffee to Malaysia

Launched on 1st November 2016, Cafebond.com is the latest specialty coffee bean e-commerce platform that brings Australian coffee to Malaysia. The aim of the platform is to let consumers shop for coffee from the best independent cafes across the globe starting with Melbourne, Australia, where over 2,000 small and independent coffee roasters are based.

A line up of 13 of Melbourne’s biggest and most celebrated cafes will retail their in-house roasted coffee beans on the online platform. Leading the line-up of cafes is Ona Coffee, a specialty coffee cafe from Canberra that sources undiscovered coffee beans through Project Origin, an initiative pioneered by World Barista Champion Sasa Sestic.

[Other brands include Auction Rooms, Clement Coffee, Code Black Coffee, Dukes Coffee, Industry Beans, Market Lane, Omar and the Marvellous Coffee Bird, Padre Coffee, Sensory Lab, Seven Seeds, St. Ali, The Vertue of the Coffee Drink and Wide Open Road.]

The platform provides beans from signature blends to single origin beans sourced from across the world and can be ordered in two brew types: espresso and filter preparations. The beans are roasted-to-order and delivery is taken care of by Eels (End-To-End Logistic Solution Software for Coffee Merchants), that combines multiple consumer shipments for the best possible shipping price with free shipping for larger volume orders.

[Between 15 December 2016 to 5 January 2017, stand a chance to win a bag of 300g St. Ali signature blend by taking this contest.]

Cafebond.com was started by Singaporean duo Eugene Chen and Keyis Ng, the latter having grown up in Malaysia spending his childhood between Kuching and Johor Bahru, where he travels daily to Singapore to manage the team in Cafebond. The platform is a venture capital funded by Quest Venture from China. The website was first launched in Singapore in June 2016 and targets to enter China, Hong Kong and Taiwan in the first quarter of 2017. The start-up is part of DBS Hotspot 2016, a programme by DBS Bank to cultivate entrepreneurship in Singapore through experimentation, mentorship and training.
