Instant Caf

Capsule and Coffee Pod machines are the in-thing for households now owing to their ease of use and convenience. These machines are not only easy to use but they also provide you with a great tasting cup of Joe within seconds. All you need to do is get one of these listed here, set-it up, stock it with their Pods and push a button.

Nescafé Dolce Gusto

Nescafé's Dolce Gusto range of machines may look diminutive in size, but it rocks a professional 15-bar pressure to churn out top coffee quality within seconds. Priced from RM399 to RM899, the machine works exclusively with the range of Nescafé Dolce Gusto Smart Capsules and it's able to churn out great tasting beverages such as lattes, macchiatos, cappuccinos and espressos either hot or cold. Best of all, both the machines as well as the capsules are widely available in supermarkets and they’re priced from RM27.99 a box of 16 capsules.

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Single Cup

CBTL has been marketing its single serve coffee machines now for almost three years now and it’s clearly one of the best available locally. Sold exclusively at all CBTL outlets, the Single Cup machine retails for RM888 with a box of ten capsules sold at RM21. At present the coffee chain markets an extensive list of CBTL exclusive-only flavours, including a variety pack with optional add-ons such as a milk frother so that users can opt to make latte or cappuccino versions of their coffee. The plus side of the CBTL system is that the coffees do taste great, but the steep price factor of the machines itself may be a deterrent to many.

Nespresso

Stylish, affordable and easy-to-use, the Nespresso has single-handedly redefined the Single Serve coffee market. The bad news though is you’ve got to journey to the nearest Nespresso Boutique in Singapore to get one and order in those capsules online. If you do get one though, rest assured you’ll be the proud owner of a great conversation piece and the recipient of some really good coffee too. A basic Nespresso machine will set you back around S$280 (RM700) with capsules averaging around S$1 (RM2.50) each.

Starbucks Verismo

Launched with great success in the United States, you’ve got to wonder if Starbucks would consider launching their very own single-serve machine for the local market. After all the chain has already tested waters somewhat with their instant coffee mixes here, so marketing the Verismo for consumers to replicate the Starbucks experience at home doesn’t sound too farfetched. Like the CBTL single-serve, the Verismo also utilises Starbucks’ own capsules, which boasts a variety of espresso and other roasted blends as well as cafe style coffee like lattes. Taste wise, the Verismo has garnered rave reviews but price would however be an issue as the machine retails from $UD200 (RM650) with a box of twelve capsules retailing for $UD12.95 (RM42).

Francis Francis X7
Illy’s capsule coffee machine has one distinct advantage over its competitors – it provides the user to select the amount of espresso that goes into a cup. Even more amazing is the fact that despite being a capsule convention, the Francis Francis X7 also boasts a professional steam wand for cappuccino preparation as well—just like what you’d get at a coffee bar. Illy Espresso’s Francis Francis X7 retails for around RM1750 and comes with 21 capsules as well as a 12 oz milk foaming pitcher.
