Dance For Your Cola

With K-Pop fever at an all-time high around the world and even more so in South Korea, the marketing gurus at the Coca-Cola Company have found a great way to promote their beverage in the country. Utilising the latest vending machine technology and K-Pop influences, the high tech Coca-Cola machine rewards consumers who take up the challenge of busting moves in front of the machine with free bottles of Coke.

A marvel of technological ingenuity, the Coke vending machine openly challenges consumers to match moves orchestrated by South Korean boy band - 2PM. Part arcade dancing game, part vending machine, the challenger then has to mimic or match the moves played out by members of the band, which are projected on the four panel video display. The challengers who best match the moves are ultimately rewarded with ice cold bottles of Coca-Cola.

The vending machine reportedly uses Microsoft’s Kinect technology, which is similar to that of the home console by utilising sensors that read body moves. Thus far the vending machine has been garnering crowds and curious onlookers due to the cool interactive nature it provides. At present the Coca-Cola Company will be keeping this Über cool machine exclusively for use in South Korea only, but due to the hit concept it has provided, it probably won’t be long before we see other editions roll-out in markets elsewhere.
