Juan Valdez

The 100% Colombian coffee which has been in the market since 1959 represents the passion and hard-work of 500,000 coffee growers from the heart of the Colombian Andean Mountains.

Back in 1927 the cafeteros founded the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia as a business cooperative to promote the production and export of Colombian coffee. The Federation’s rigid adherence to its three objectives – to protect the industry, to study its problems and to further its interest – has contributed to the recognition Colombian coffee now commands.

At a time when the coffee industry in Colombia was fraught with fraction due to overproduction, price volatility and disputes over policies and regulations, the Federation managed to bring together the community of cafeteros and addressed their challenges and conflicts. Much of the difficulties stemmed from transportation infrastructure, financial institutions, trade associations and protection of the industry.

In 1981 the Federation, more commonly referred to as Fedecafé, developed the now successful Juan Valdez branding concept. The purpose of the trademark and logo which features a farmer carrying coffee on his mule, was to make a clear distinction between 100% Colombian coffee and coffee that was blended with other varieties.

Carefully selected and stringent quality control measures in place, the Juan Valdez brand is a guarantee for traders and consumers alike. Coffee producers that carry the logo are required to meet rigid standards to qualify for a license and are subject to regular inspections by the Federation.

Made with the highest quality Arabica beans, Juan Valdez provides the ultimate coffee experience with its diversity of flavours and characteristic smooth, aromatic finish.

Today Juan Valdez Cafe® has evolved into a multinational coffee-house chain that also specializes in coffee retail with over 180 outlets in South America, Europe and the United States. Its global expansion has since brought the brand to Malaysia and Singapore late last year, and you can now enjoy this exclusive cuppa at selected restaurants and F&B outlets in the Business Districts, Bangsar and PJ areas of the Klang Valley.
