Better Beer Festival 2012

Better Beer Festival 2012

“NO GIMMICKS, NO SLOGANS… JUST BETTER BEER!”

The first ever craft beer festival in Kuala Lumpur happened in Taps Beer Bar on 29 September 2012. Showcasing 70 different types of craft beer from around the world including Australia, Belgium, Denmark, England, Germany, Japan, Norway, Scotland, Singapore, and USA, the festival attracted beer lovers from as far as Penang and Singapore; and of course, the local expats and travellers to the city.

Working with Kiwanis Down Syndrome Association, Taps donated every entry of RM5 each to the foundation. Each entry entitled to a 140ml of taster by the bar, the attendance that day made a good RM1,342 total in cash for the association.

All the beers were set at lower than the regular price starting at RM15 each. They came in cans, bottles as well as right fresh from the taps. Food was simple bar snacks such as hot dogs, chips, meat balls and chicken wings which were pretty good as stomach fillers, and not too strong in flavours that would have defeated the purpose of tasting the beers. The festival merchandise were sold during the event. They were t-shirts that came in two different colours and designs at RM25 and RM35 each, also good quality beer glasses at RM20 each. The mechandise are available until stock last from the outlet.

There were live music, beer talks and lucky draw and free membership giveaway. It was a lot of fun with many like-minded and easy going crowds that day. Taps gave away 30 free  memberships and RM200 vouchers that day. We want more of this, more!
