Background: Pronounced ‘ka-roon’, Caorunn Gin is a herb infused Scottish Gin. Some say the magic of this liquor lies with the hardwired genes of the workers up at the Scottish Highlands to distill spirits. We do not doubt that for a second, but we saw three other distinctive qualities that set it apart from other labels. Among the many charming elements of this liquor, the handpicked traditional botanicals, the Scottish Highlands water used in the distillation process and the unique Copper Berry Chamber used to infuse the botanicals with the gin stands out the most.

Inspired by Celtic distillation traditions, Caorunn Gin is handcrafted in small batches of 1,000 litres and laced with the critical Celtic and gin botanicals. Pure grain spirit made with fresh Scottish spring water is first tripled distilled, vaporised, and goes through one final distillation, creating a quadruple distilled Scottish Gin. Caorunn Gin takes pride in the fact that the distillation methods used stays true to old formulas as it was passed down from father to son since 1824.

The gin master, who oversees every step of the distillation process, then loads the Copper Berry Chamber (a round chamber with a copper frame that carries four trays) with a total of 11 botanicals, including the fabled Rowan Berry, along with the gin. The gin slowly passes up, allowing the vapours to be saturated with the aroma and flavours. The end effect is the balanced multi-layering of each botanical element with no one single aroma overpowering the other. Yet, it still meets all the technical requirements of the London Gin Category.

As clear as the Scottish waters that birthed the Caorunn Gin, it is a dry, crisp and long drink with floral, fruity or even spicy aromas. It makes for a pure, balanced drink steadily grounded in time and culture.
