The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the social landscape in our society. Physical distancing is now required so that this virus can be contained. Countries around the world are on lockdown and Malaysia has put down Movement Control Order (MCO) since 18th March 2020.
The food and beverage industry though are regarded as essential and allowed to operate during this period, face massive income loss and will continue to suffer even after the MCO is lifted.
Restaurants and bars have changed their dine-in operation format to food delivery service to minimise losses. This may seem like a viable short-term solution but not sustainable in the long run. Many outlets still need to pay rent and keep their staff employed as ordered by the government.
What we want to do here is to encourage consumers to go back to visit these restaurants and bars after the MCO is lifted.
It is not going to be easy to want to feel safe again out there. However, we hope that outlets will be making changes in the way they serve and adopt safe distancing in their layout when the guests are back.
The Friends of Bars initiative by Thirstmag.com is to provide bars a platform to sell vouchers. As most bars don’t have their own online shop, we are lending our platform to help ease this process. This initiative is to hopefully help bars stay afloat during the Movement Control Order (MCO) and beyond and will run until 31st May 2020.
Bars are free to set their own terms and conditions for the voucher so please read them carefully before purchasing. They are charged 5% for each checkout to cover transaction and admin fee.
For restaurants and bars that wish to use this platform, please email email@example.com.
