Company background: Gryphon was founded by Lim Tian Wee in 2006, with a mission to make high-quality, gourmet teas accessible to discerning tea drinkers seeking new taste experiences.

Lim is of the third generation of a Singaporean tea manufacturer, Lim Lam Thye Private Ltd. Lim Lam Thye first established the tea business in Singapore as a provision store selling specialty Chinese tea from China. The business then expanded into sourcing food commodities, tea processing, blending and packing.

Lim has been a tea drinker since he was a teenager. His passion for fine tea gave him the idea to create his brand of tea selections. As the family business involved sourcing tea and herbs from reputable growers and plantations all over the world, he was inspired to combine food flavours into tea. This Gryphon Tea’s innovation includes the use of new ingredients in tea such as the Sichuan pepper, Japanese katsuobushi, Tahitian vanilla, Dutch chocolate, wild mushrooms and gold dust.

Gryphon has received international accolades from the Great Taste Award in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and The Monde Selection in 2010.

Artisan Selection: Hand-picked by Gryphon’s master tea blenders from leaf teas and herbs from all around the world. Each tea bag is made with silken sachets to deliver full flavour. This experimental range is inspired by Asian ingredients like ginger, chai and sencha.

Grand Cru Selection (to be released in 2012): Teas selected from several regions to represent the distinctive characteristics of the location. Tea leaves are freshly sourced from plantations across China, India, Japan and Sri Lanka to represent the epitome of tea drinking.
