The limited edition of Glenfarclas 105 20YO is coming to Malaysia. The 4,000 bottles rare production was all booked out from the distillery once it was launched in July 2012.

This is the second time J & G Grant released an older expression of Glenfarclas 105, though it is the third time it was produced. The first older expression was the 40YO Glenfarclas 105 released in 2008 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first bottling of 105.

‘105’ is the strength of the British Proof standard for spirits and it is equivalent to 60% alcohol by volume. The name Glenfarclas 105 was given by George S Grant, the 4th generation of the family who first bottled a single cask of ‘105’ British Proof straight from the warehouse in 1968 to give to family and friends as Christmas gift. The cask was only selected by chance and ‘Glenfarclas 105’ was the only information available of the whisky on a handwritten label on the bottles. The feedback was so good that by the end of the following January, request for more of the bottles were received at the distillery.

George S Grant, Director of Sales and 6th generation of the owning family commented; ‘My family have been producing Glenfarclas 105 for 3 generations now and the 20 Year Old makes a great addition to the ‘105’ family, along with the 105 and 105 40 Year Old. This is a 105 as it should be – big and powerful with all the classic Glenfarclas flavours coming through. Definitely a dram to savour as the finish just goes on and on.’

The 12 bottles of Glenfarclas 105 20 YO retailed at RM1,150 per bottle. It will be available at Single & Available shops in Plaza Damas and Bangsar Shopping Complex in the next few months’ time. Do stick around for the announcement on Thirstmag.
