Background: The Macallan is a brand name synonymous with single malt whisky and is widely credited as being one of the most recognized and famous single malt whisky brands in the world.

 

One of the first whisky brands to focus on single malts, The Macallan rose to fame on the back of the high quality, sherried whiskies it produced throughout the 20th century. Today, The Macallan is a behemoth of the whisky world, and is one of the best-selling single malts, but the significant increase in popularity and demand has led the company to diversify, with their Fine Oak range showcasing whiskies matured in Spanish and American oak casks seasoned with sherry and American oak seasoned with bourbon.

 

The Macallan is also one of the brands that have leveraged on the growing Duty Free market, with numerous releases exclusive to the Travel Retail sector.
