For one day only, Nomi Tomo Sake House is hosting Malaysia's first-ever sake festival in conjunction with World Sake Day which falls on the 1st of October. The festival aims to spread awareness and appreciation for the Japanese beverage in the Malaysian market. You can expect some of the best breweries from prefectures like Akita, Yamagata, Kochi and Niigata to be there.
The featured breweries are Bijofu, Dassai, Dewazakura, Gasanryu, Kirinzan, Niwano Uguisu, Masumi, Sakunohana and Yuki No Bousha. Of course, what's a sake festival without some experts to guide you along? On top of sommeliers such as Sake Samurai Elliot James (Hong Kong) – who's also co-founder and director of Sake Central Hong Kong and Beverage Director for Yardbird, Ronin and Sunday's Grocery – Micky Chan (Hong Kong) and Thomas Ling (Malaysia), there'll be representatives from selected breweries who will be joining the festivities.
The festival will include a variety of food from Makhan by Kitchen Mafia, Nomms, and The Ice Cream Bar and you'll soon find out how easily sake can complement any cuisine. One ticket gets you RM100 worth of credits, 1 Sake Festival ISO tasting glass, 3 sake sampling portions, 1 Sake Festival bag, 1 sake information booklet and more goodies.
In support of the festival, we're giving away 5 tickets to Thirst Club members. If you aren’t already a member, sign up now for a chance to win! Otherwise early bird tickets are already on sale until 9th September followed by pre-sale (10th – 30th September) and general admission (1st – 11th October) tickets. If you're not driving, use the Grab code: SAKEFESTMY2018 which gives you RM5 off two rides.
