Background: Located in the revered Isle of Islay, Bowmore distillery boasts to be one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, tracing its history back to 1779. Founded by local merchant David Simson, who moved to the village of Bowmore in 1766, Bowmore is one of the remaining few distilleries that still maintains traditional methods of production like maintaining their own floor malting. Bowmore was bought over by Morrison Bowmore Distillers Ltd in 1963 and was eventually purchased in 1994 by Japanese group Suntory, and has remained under their ownership since. The Bowmore Distillery boasts a strong set of core expressions ranging from the 12YO to the 25YO as well as regular special releases every year, but it was expressions from the vintages from the 1960s like the Bowmore Trilogy that have rocketed the brand to fame, making Bowmore one of the most sought after and valuable whiskies in Scotland.

 

Flavour Profile: Medium peat* and smoke, sherried expressions carry a strong floral note and bourbon expressions are more spicy with more fruit and vanilla notes.
