Background: One of the last remaining family owned distilleries in Scotland, Glenfarclas distillery has been under the ownership of J & G. Grant since 1865 and is one of the most traditional distilleries still in existence, with Glenfarclas’ stills still direct fired with coal till today. The distillery has also resisted the urge to diversify into special cask finishes and fancy packaging, choosing to focus on using only the top quality sherry casks and simple, clean packaging. This philosophy has allowed the the distillery to emerge as one of the most well-received Speysidestyled sherried whiskies in the world, garnering numerous accolades for its quality. The Glenfarclas range, however, is far from small, with expressions ranging from 10YO to 40YO, as well as a regular set of vintage expressions known as The Family Casks and a very popular cask strength expression, the Glenfarclas 105.
