Monsoon Valley Shiraz Thailand White 2017 was announced the World's Best Rosé by internationally acclaimed wine rating website JamesSuckling.com. The label also won Best of Show, Best of Value and No. 1 Top 10 Rosé out of 100 over wines submitted for the competition. The awards ceremony was held at The Nai Harn Phuket resort last Friday and it's in collaboration with the resort's world class wine program.
Monsoon Valley's rosé is locally produced at a vineyard just a few hours south of Bangkok near Hua Hin and it beat some of the most prestigious wines from around the world such as Château Routas Coteaux Varois en Provence 2017 and d’Esclans Côtes de Provence Whispering Angel Rosé 2017 in a blind-taste test.
"I loved the balance and energy of the Monsoon Valley White Shiraz," said site founder James Suckling. "The tasting was completely blind and we judged the wine for its brightness and quality."
"The Thai wine industry is just coming into its own with a handful of wineries making outstanding bottles," co-founder Jack Suckling added." The tropical climate is difficult for viticulture, necessitating constant management and nurturing. Experimentation is still the norm with winemakers looking for the correct methodology and grape types to emphasise quality."
