As important as it is to recognise and celebrate the winners, it is also important to know where you stand and what you need to do to reach the top. Growth and the pursuit to be better drives innovation and creativity. The Top 10 rankings are a way for each professional to measure growth and improvement.

The awards made for the bar industry has returned for the third year in Kuala Lumpur and second year for Penang. The joint cities ceremony ended on a high note in Black Box Publika last night with winners of 14 categories announced by their top 4s.

The Bar Awards results came from a 2-tier process starting with a public nomination by both the trade and consumers. Then a top-10 list based on the number of nominations is derived, which is then voted on by a panel of judges formed by local industry players. There are 54 judges from Kuala Lumpur and 24 from Penang this year, allowing each city to be assessed by the local industry who know and have interacted with the bar community.

“We’re pretty proud of The Panel of judges,” comments Dave Jony, editor of The Bar Awards, “Each city is judged by the people who live and breathe that city. They have seen it grow and evolve, they know all the great aspects and the underlying truths. This makes our judges and our results the best and most accurate.”
