Proof of the enduring appeal of good beer and equally good food, Thirst Mag recently hosted the fourth edition of the Food Series with Brooklyn Brewery, this time hosted at the rather elegant SARO Lounge at Pavilion Elite on 24 October.
The session was led again by Carlsberg’s Commercial Development Manager for Craft & Specialty, Thomas Teo, who explained the ins and outs of the Brooklyn Lager and the East IPA to the 25 guests who happily eased themselves into SARO Lounge’s leather sofas after braving the Wednesday night KL traffic.
The guests learned about the background of the brewery – started in 1988 in Williamsburg, and now available across the world – and also got a chance to see and smell the ingredients used to make beer, which were passed around in glass jars. The lager has a firm malt centre that is supported by a floral hop aroma and a refreshing bitterness, while the East IPA is boldly balanced with a piney aroma.
Head Chef Nopporn Nutto and Chef Faizal curated a delectable menu to be enjoyed together with the two beers: to start, the Lager goes fantastically with smoked meat and savoury food, and was served with Mini Burgers & Grilled New Zealand Lamb Skewers, and Garlic Fried Rice; and the East IPA shines against spicy food, so it was served with a Beef Burrito & Linguine Aglio Olio with Grilled Prawns.
Keep your eyes peeled for the fifth edition coming in December, the final one for this year. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for more updates.
