Bar Convent Singapore, the Asian rendition of the Bar Convent Berlin (BCB) founded in Europe in 2007, debuts in Singapore this November with a series of events curated for the bar industry. From guest shifts to networking sessions, educational workshops to product tastings, industry professionals are in for two intensive days of activities to level up in the bar game.

Since 2018, BCB has also launched in Brooklyn, USA, and Sao Paulo, Brazil, bringing together who's who in the bar industry to make contacts, discover the latest product innovations, and attend educational seminars.

Pre-event guest shifts

The trade-only show will start on the 5th with 10 guest shifts and activities offsite around Singapore:

  • Manhattan Bar featuring Rogerio Igarashi of Bar Trench, Tokyo, with KI NO BI and Monkey Shoulder 47
  • Smoke & Mirrors featuring Crimson Room, Bangkok, with Flor de Cana
  • 28 HongKong Street featuring Beckaly Franks for the closing party with Proof & Company
  • Nature trail and wellness session organized by Healthy Hospo, in partnership with Fever Tree and Seedlip

SEA cross-border collaborations

The much-anticipated cross-border collaborations showcase homegrown heroes for the participating SEA nation with their counterparts currently working in Singapore:

  • ReCraft from the Philippines 
  • Hybrid from Vietnam
  • Penrose from Malaysia
  • Lost in Thaislation from Thailand

Levelling-up sessions

BCB's educational programmes are curated with guidance from Peter Chua, director of Composed Concepts and co-owner of Night Hawk, Michael Callahan, managing director of the Compound Collective and founding bartender of 28 HongKong Street, Monica Berg, co-owner of Tayēr + Elementary and creative director of Campari Academy, and Lorenzo Antinori, founder of Bar Leone and Lorenzo Antinori Studio. Led by over 40 industry experts, the highlights include:

  • "Journey from Bartender to Owner" with Beckaly Franks, co-owner of The Pontiac and Founder of Hungry Ghost
  • “Sustainability through varying lenses” with Alex Francis, bar director of LITTLE RED DOOR, Ronnaporn Kanivichaporn, co-owner and bartender of Mahaniyom Cocktail Bar and #FindTheLockerRoom, and Vijay Mudaliar, founder of Native and Analogue
  • “Sustainability: From drink creation to overall operations” by Rob Scott of Flor de Cana, Rusty Cerven of Manhattan, and Jez Carreon of Employees Only
  • “Craft Bartending Workshop” for practical flair techniques with Bryan Bonifacio, principal bartender of Employees Only Singapore, and Shallum Recto, on-trade specialist of William Grant & Sons Singapore Distribution
  • “Old and New of Japanese Bartending and Drinks Culture - how has the dynamic shifted through a new generation?” by Hisatsugu Saito
