International Women's Day Cocktail Week 2022

International Women's Day Cocktail Week 2022

We recognise and celebrate women all around the world through International Women’s Day – the women who raise us, inspire us, who broke barriers and smashed through glass ceilings. It's these women we want to commemorate. The theme of International Women's Day Cocktail Week is to celebrate women who have contributed to the development of Malaysia.

From the 15th to 21st of March 2022, participation outlets in Malaysia will be running their IWDCW cocktails created in honour of these women. Each outlet can choose any woman, preferably a Malaysian (past or present), who they think have contributed to the development of the nation.

March 2022 marks two years since lockdown started due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The hospitality industry was hit the hardest, with consistently inconsistent SOPs, and with an election coming on the horizon, will the industry ever turn around? Is the future so unpredictable that operators are going in blind?

We speak to the people on the top of the industry chain who have a say in policy making to get a clearer picture of where the industry is. How do we move forward? What is in the plan to help rebuild the industry? What resources do we have? How do we work together?

Media and trade are welcome to attend. RSVP here.

Submit any questions you have that we can ask the speakers on the day. The forum will be streamed live on Facebook and be made available to all.

Panel speakers:

  1. Pearl Lai Corporate Affairs Director of Carlsberg Malaysia on supply chain and logistics
  2. Yap Lip Seng, CEO of Malaysian Association of Hotels on the hotel industry
  3. Nigel Wong on tour and travel

Benefitting charity: Happy Cure

Founded to raise awareness around maintaining happiness among children who are battling cancer, Happy Cure is the transformation of Tuesday Aunties in Hospital UKM, a team which has been conducting weekly visits to child patients in the hospital since the year 2000 to support their journey to healing. In March 2021 the effort expanded to include more hospitals.

The funds raised during IWDCW22 will go towards care packages for the caretakers – women who are often overlooked and overworked – containing pampering kits, meal and shopping vouchers, and art and craft kits. The children they look after will participate in distributing the care packages to show their appreciation towards their caretakers and to involve them in the process. This idea was formed through surveys and discussions with the caretakers and nurses.
