Bago at Lime House (SG)

Good news for rum lovers, Lime House Singapore has established Bago, a new extension that offers a list of 150 rums, each influenced by the European countries that colonised the Caribbean region, and rum cocktails created by Davide Boncimino, who formerly helmed award-winning bar Mr. Fogg’s Residence in Mayfair, London.

Bago [bay-go], abbreviated from the word “Tobago”, is a 40-seater Caribbean rum lounge with a rustic, colonial ambience of a bygone era located above Lime House on Keong Saik Road. Owner Chris Morris who is from Trinidad and Tobago, designed the lounge for “liming”, a Caribbean pastime of doing nothing but sharing good food, drinks and conversation while hanging out with friends. The venue was conceptualised in collaboration with illustrious Global Rum Ambassador, Ian Burrell to offer an authentic Caribbean rum experience showcasing the best rums, food and culture from the tropical islands.

“Rum was first produced in the Caribbean in the early 17th century, and has remained an integral part of our history since. So drinking Caribbean rum is one of the best ways to immerse yourself in our culture,” shares Chris.

Get more from Bago by being a regular and obtaining a Bago Rum Passport. A stamp is given for any rum, house crafted cocktail and rum infusion ordered to chronicle your rum journey. Repeat trips with this passport allows you to exclusive rum previews, Lime House’s signature Rum Dinners and unique sessions of Rum Infusions, where you get to make your own concoctions to be stored, displayed and shared with friends.

Other than the list of Caribbean inspired and classic rum cocktails, guests are invited to order their drinks based on five different moods and tastes from the Bago Build menu (SGD25++ each drink).

Try these signature cocktails at Bago:

Bushfire (SGD22++) - prevalent in the Caribbean’s dry seasons, this has inspired a powerful cocktail comprising the Mount Gay Black Barrel rum from Barbados with a complex bouquet of herbs and burnt lavender

The Tonic (SGD20++) - a traditional drink with Mandarin skin-infused Bacardi Carta Blanca (Cuba) rum, fresh lime juice and homemade kaffir lime syrup.

Cocoa Estate (SGD25++) – the colonial Caribbean cocoa plantation housing rich history and deep, dark secrets. A twist on the classic Manhattan using New Grove 8 YO (Mauritius) Mancino Rosso Amaranto, Mozart Dark Chocolate Liqueur, Angostura Bitters
