Fresca, strategically located between Bangsar and Kuala Lumpur city centre at The Gardens Mall, has attracted the visits of the sophisticated urbanites from the offices above the malls and around the city.
It is like walking into a time machine while entering the restaurant from the shopping mall and exiting to a hotel forecourt. Seating near the mall side has a better privacy setting whereas the area facing the bar shares the light coming through the big windows from the doors. The ceramic tiles, rustic designed furniture and interior gives a cozy feeling to the place. The bar can seat up to 10 people without obstructing the drinks flow delivered from the bar. Within a year of operation, Fresca has already made its name as one of the top interior design restaurant establishments in Malaysia.
Fresca is co-owned by two sisters who fell in love with Mexico. The restaurant offers classic Mexican food at bite size inspired by food the two sisters have enjoyed during their stay in Mexico. Malaysian food shares many similarities in the use of ingredients such as beans and spices as well as the serving portions. Malaysian cuisine by any race, share our food from the same dishes and that is the same for Mexicans. Apart from these similarities, Malaysia Day also falls on the Independence Day of Mexico on the 16th of September.
However much similar we are with the Mexican in food, the Malaysian culture offers nothing like the Mexican tequila based drinks - Margarita. When speak of Mexican food, Margaritas are not to escape the list. The classic Margaritas in Fresca comes in two serving styles: frozen and iced.
Electric Blue Margarita
The signature uses 1800 Reserva Añejo1 100% Agave Tequila, Blue Caracao and fresh lime, served in ice.
Jalapeno Margarita
A cocktail exclusive to Fresca, is spicy and for those who can’t live without chili in their meals. The ingredients are Jose Cuervo Reposado2 Tequila, Cointreau, fresh lime and blended Jalapeno, served frozen.
Raspberry Margartia
Same ingredients as in Jalapeno Margarita, except that the flavour is raspberry and served in ice. The same cocktail comes in a few other flavours too.
The fresh ingredients in the cocktails are a win but the use of premium ingredients is a leap of standard for a good cocktail. Of course, the price gets a bit heftier due to the high tax in Malaysia. The good news is, there is an all-time promotion for the Margaritas in Fresca during their happy hours. Buy a Grande and get a Single free at RM39++.
As for the bites to go with the cocktails, the corn tortillas do come with some fresh dips. Fresca’s three varieties are the classic Pico de Gallo with chunky tomatoes, Guacamole with avocado and Chile con Quesco with cheese and Japlapeno served warm.
The combination of Margaritas and tortillas with dips is an all-time choice. We had it at tea time, right before the office crowd started to sip get for dinner. The Margaritas were dangerously smooth. The night hasn't even begun and we are already a bit tipsy...
