Located on Jalan Melaka Raya 10, (behind Italy Bakery) which runs parallel to Jalan Merdeka - the main commercial hub of Melaka, Khaki Coffee Bar is the place to go if you are starting up your own café. Its main business is helping commercial clients set up their own coffee operations. They sell brewing equipment and coffee beans (which they roast at the back of the shop); provide barista training and all the necessary services you’ll need to start up your own coffee bar.

As a sideline they have also set up a small coffee bar to publicise their main business, which has been explained above.

From the outside, this gem of a coffee bar may not look like much. Once through its European style glass doors however, you’ll be assaulted by a wonderful and intense aroma of freshly brewed coffee, leaving you in no doubt that you have entered into a realm of coffee haven.

Once you have surmounted the coffee assault to your senses, you will realise that you are in a quaint and small café with a coffee bar on one side and 3 small tables on the other.

The atmosphere is rather dated, a little like walking into your aunt’s 1980’s kitchen; but hey; we are here for the coffee!

Well… I’m usually here for the Crème Brule, made with real vanilla pods. It is “to die for”. Part of a small and simple menu of croissant sandwiches, affogato and a more then decent Tiramisu. The Crème Brule is the stand out dish!

To then top it off with the coffee for the day: they tend to serve a different type of coffee bean every day; normally freshly roasted from the last roasting batch: it is a sublime combination of rich and smooth Crème Brule and a rich and intense coffee.

The best pick-me-up in this historic town! 

Seet Cheng Khim is a Malaccan who loves fine wine and spirits. His daily dose does not escape a gin and tonic with a piece of lemon slice. Khim is a regular to all the good eateries in Malacca and can be the encyclopedia of Malacca food and drinks. He loves his coffee black without sugar and whisky smokey. Take Khim to a beer bar and you will see a bored soul drumming his fingers waiting to leave.
