Zorba The Greek Taverna: A Taste of Greece in Singapore

Nestled along the Singapore River in the vibrant Clarke Quay, is Zorba The Greek Taverna that invites diners to a culinary journey to Greece. With its authentic Greek cuisine, warm ambiance, and attentive service, Zorba promises a little escape through the tummy.

Step into Zorba and be transported to the streets of Athens. The restaurant boasts a charming Mediterranean-inspired decor with whitewashed tiles, rustic wooden furniture, and touches of blue accents. Tall white dome and comfortable wooden chairs with cotton cover cushions make the hot tropical climate of Singapore bearable in the afternoon. Plenty of seating available overlooking the lively Singapore River and Clarke Quay, it’s perfect for a leisurely meal with friends or family.

Authentic Greek Recipes

Zorba's menu showcases a tantalizing array of Greek specialties created for sharing and casual dining. Start your meal with classic appetisers like Tzatziki, Spanakopita, or Dolmades. For mains, indulge in traditional dishes such as Moussaka, Souvlaki, or Grilled Octopus. Vegetarians will delight in options like Greek Salad, Fava Bean Puree, and Eggplant Moussaka. Be sure to save room for desserts like Baklava or Loukoumades, paired with a strong Greek coffee.

Each dish at Zoba is prepared with the freshest ingredients available and attention to detail, the aim is to transport diners to the shores of Greece with authentic flavours. The ingredients are sourced locally whenever possible, ensuring freshness and quality. Standout dishes include the tender and flavourful Lamb Souvlaki, the creamy and aromatic Moussaka, and the perfectly grilled Octopus with a hint of smokiness.

Zorba also showcases a selection of wines from renowned Greek vineyards, their wine list offers a journey through Greece's rich viticultural heritage and terroir including Assyrtiko from Santorini, Xinomavro from Naoussa, and Moschofilero from Mantinia. Each bottle tells a story of Greece's diverse wine regions, with flavours that reflect the country's unique climate and geography. Try the rich Alpha Ecosystem Agia Kriaki Assyrtiko (S$16/S$90) with a creamy mouthfeel to open the palate and the balanced Pavlidis Thema Red Syrah, Agiorghitiko (S$16/S$90) that taste of cherries and plums to end the meal. Whether you're a wine aficionado or a casual enthusiast, Zorba's Greek wine list provides a refreshing accompaniment to their authentic cuisine, allowing guests to savour the flavours of Greece with every sip.

The Greek dining experience extends beyond just food and wine; it also includes a tantalizing array of cocktails inspired by the vibrant culture of Greece.  Sip on a sweet and nutty Hades ($20) infused with flavours of blackberry and sambucca, or indulge in a boozy Demeter ($20), a classic riff of Martini using Greek gin, Skinos, Noilly Prat, and a taste fo Greece's iconic anise- flavoured spirit, Ouzo.

While Zorba offers an upscale dining experience, the prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food and the portion sizes. Diners can expect to pay slightly higher than average for Greek cuisine in Singapore, but it is value for money given the authentic flavours and cosy ambiance.
