Hungarian Month in Singapore

The Embassy of Hungary has brought the spirit of Hungary to Singapore with the Hungarian Month. Renowned for the Rubik’s Cube, paprika, and the protected Tokaj wine, Hungary offers a rich blend of tradition and culture.

Influenced by the Roman and Ottoman Empires, and transitioning from a monarchy to its current status as a democratic member of the European Union, Hungary has a long history of significant contributions to the arts, culture, music, science, and technology in Europe.

Hungary’s picturesque landscape, with its rolling hills, low humidity, and warm summer climate, giving a unique environment for their unique rich and flavourful cuisine, and robust wines and fruit-based spirits.

Throughout October, visitors can immerse themselves in Hungarian culture through folk dance performances, classical music concerts, and tastings of traditional Hungarian dishes, wines, and beers to experience a piece of historical Hungary.

One highlight is the Hungarian Fair, which showcases the best of Hungary. Visitors can also enter for a chance to win a round-trip ticket to Budapest, courtesy of Turkish Airlines, $250 shopping vouchers, goodie bags from Huber's Butchery, Hungarian wines, and a football jersey signed by the Hungarian national team.

"The Hungarian Fair is a wonderful opportunity for Singaporeans to experience the best of Hungary right here in the heart of the city. We invite everyone to join us for a day of cultural exchange, entertainment, and discovery – and perhaps win an exciting trip to Budapest", says H.E. Judit Pach, Ambassador of Hungary to Singapore.

The event features Hungarian folk dances, live violin performances, and a showcase of Hungarian cuisine, including Mangalica pork and Hungarian salami. Visitors can sample wines and beers from 15 Hungarian breweries, watch a speedcubing session at the Singapore Kempinski Rubik's 50th Anniversary 2024 Competition, try Hungarian sport Teqball, and engage in discussions on Hungarian food and scientific innovations, with the opportunity to explore studying abroad.

The first 300 visitors will receive a $10 voucher to spend at the fair. Attendees can also enjoy tastings of Hungarian wine and Tokaj gin, explore Hungarian inventions, and participate in a charity drive benefiting local organizations like the Singapore Children's Society and Make-A-Wish Singapore. Plus, there will be free popsicles in Hungarian colours, while stocks last.
