Starhill Gallery will be undergoing renovation to transform the current 7 floor shopping mall into a combined retail, F&B space and hotel by 2021. The repositioning of the brand to Home of the Tastemakers and renaming to “The Starhill” will see the lower 4 levels maintained as retail space while the upper 3 levels will be converted into 162 hotel rooms.
According to a press release, Home of the Tastemakers centres on The Living Room, The Tastemakers and The Social Circle. The mall will have botanical interiors and a library cum reading room environment showcasing books, design galleries and wellness experiences complemented with stylish F&B outlets. Bintang Steps facing Jalan Gading will have a new façade which will house a row of greenhouse-inspired cafes, lounges and restaurants in glass conservatories.
The group’s popular restaurants Shook!, Luk Yu Tea House and Jogoya Japanese Restaurant will have a relaunch in Q2 next year at the lower ground floor, whereas other F&B outlets and retails stores will have soft openings in Q4 2020. There is also a plan to create the largest outdoor event space on Starhill Piazza, the shopping street facing Jalan Bukit Bintang.
