Tales of the Cocktail Foundation (TOCT), in collaboration with sustainability champion spirit brand Flor de Caña Rum, is proud to announce the launch of the World's Sustainable Champion competition in 2024. The goal of this competition is to inspire bartenders worldwide to incorporate sustainable practices into their cocktail creations, aligning with the beverage industry's growing focus on green initiatives in bars.
The World's Sustainable Champion invites bartenders from around the globe to showcase their creativity in crafting cocktails that not only tantalize the taste buds but also spotlight sustainability through the use of eco-friendly ingredients and techniques.
Entrants will undergo virtual judging by a committee of global brand ambassadors selected by TOCT. The judges will choose semi-finalists to advance to the Key City Finals and ultimately to the Global Finals, scheduled to take place in Nicaragua in February.
How to Enter
To participate, entrants can visit www.flordecanachallenge.com. They will need to submit a cocktail recipe that meets specific criteria, including ensuring that the cocktail is served in a sustainable vessel and that ingredients are either Fair Trade certified, seasonal, locally produced, and/or derived from food waste or zero-waste programs. The recipe, accompanied by a photo and video, constitutes the "Entry." Entries must be received by April 30, 2024.
Registration Period
Bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts can register for the competition from February 1 to April 30, 2024. This extended registration period allows participants ample time to conceptualize and refine their sustainable cocktail creations.
Global Recognition
The competition attracts participants from diverse cultural backgrounds worldwide, fostering a global dialogue on sustainability within the cocktail industry.
Grand Prize
The winner will receive a trip to Nicaragua, a cash award of $10,000, and the prestigious title of "Flor de Caña World’s Most Sustainable Champion," recognizing their dedication to advocating for sustainability in the industry.
